  • Better Health Channel - a website established by the Victorian Government that aims to provide the community with access to online health related information which is quality assured, reliable, up-to-date and locally relevant.  Contains various topics related to pain and its management.
  • Headache Australia - an organisation established by the Brain Foundation that aims to reduce the incidence and impact of headache disorders through the provision of support, community education, and research.
  • Health Insite - a website funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing that aims to provide Australians with easy access to quality information about human health.
  • Hunter Integrated Pain Service - information about various aspects of persistent pain provided by the Hunter New England Area Health Service, a public sector provider of health services for people living in the Hunter and New England regions of NSW.
  • National Prescribing Service - an independent, non-profit organisation funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing that provides accurate, balanced, evidence-based information and services to health professionals and the community on quality use of medicines.
  • North Coast Area Health Service - information on pain management provided by the NCAHS, a public sector provider of health services for people living in the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast regions of NSW.
  • Pain Management Research Institute - a research and educational organisation that aims to improve the management of acute pain, cancer pain and chronic non cancer pain.
  • Pain World - a website created and maintained by people with chronic pain.
  • The Cancer Council - an independent community-based charity in NSW that provides information on cancer, support services for cancer patients and their families, education and training for health professionals, and funds research into cancer.
  • Therapeutic Goods Administration - a unit of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing that carries out a range of assessment and monitoring activities to ensure that therapeutic goods available in Australia are of an acceptable standard with the aim of ensuring that the Australian community has access, within a reasonable time, to therapeutic advances.

  • Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality - US public health service agency that supports research designed to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care, and provides information that helps people make better decisions about health care.
  • American Pain Foundation - an independent, US non-profit organisation serving people with pain through information, advocacy, and support.
  • National Headache Foundation - a US non-profit organisation that serves as a resource for headache sufferers, their families and the healthcare practitioners who treat them. 
  • Pediatric Pain - Science Helping Children - website of the Pediatric Pain Research Lab of the Canadian IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University, providing professional, research, and self help resources in the field of pain in infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Spine-Health.com - a website providing information to help patients understand, prevent, and research treatments for back pain and neck pain. 
  • The Pain Relief Foundation - a UK charity which funds research into the causes and treatment of chronic pain and is concerned with education of doctors and nurses in pain management.

  • Alcohol & Other Drugs - a website for general practitioners and health professionals provided by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.  It includes information on pain management, particularly in relation to drug dependent persons.
  • Australian Pain Society - a non-profit, multidisciplinary organisation of health professionals active in the field of pain and its management, and Australian Chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain.
  • NSW Therapeutic Advisory Group - an independent, non-profit association (funded by the NSW Department of Health) comprising clinical pharmacologists, directors of pharmacy and other clinicians from the teaching hospitals in NSW.  NSW TAG aims to investigate and establish therapeutic initiatives that foster high quality, cost-effective drug usage in the public hospitals of NSW and the wider community.

  • Pharmaceutical Services Branch - a unit of the NSW Department of Health that is responsible for administration of the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act and Regulation, and the development of policies and guidelines to complement the legislation.  The Branch issues authorities to medical practitioners to prescribe opioid medications for chronic pain.
