About Us
Primary Health and Community Partnerships Branch provides policy advice on, amongst other topics, child and family health, child protection and Families First and promotes service developments to meet the health needs of children and their families. An overarching policy has been developed on child health that provides a framework for the health system to address the health care needs of children.
Primary Health and Community Partnerships Branch is involved in a number of projects and policy initiatives aimed at promoting the development of prevention, early intervention and health promotion strategies to address preventable child health issues and to achieve the best health outcomes for children in NSW.
Some of the child health policies in place include:
- State Wide Infant Screening - Hearing (SWISH) Program
- Guidelines for the hospitalisation of children
- Immunisation Strategy
- The NSW Aboriginal Perinatal Health Report and Policy
- Frontline Procedures for the Protection of Children and Young People
- Otitis Media Strategic Plan for Aboriginal Children
