Note: Estimates are based on the following numbers of respondents for NSW: 1997 (1,867), 1998 (1,745), 2002 (1,177), 2003 (1,253), 2004 ( 815), 2005 ( 937), 2006 ( 644), 2007 ( 596). The indicator includes those who smoked daily or occasionally. The question used to define the indicator was: Which of the following best describes your smoking status: Smoke daily, Smoke occasionally, Do not smoke now, but I used to, I have tried it a few times but never smoked regularly, or I have never smoked?
