Postcodes were classified into quintiles by scores based on the ABS Socio-Economic Indices For Areas (SEIFA) Index of Relative Socioeconomic Disadvantage (IRSD). The IRSD is based on 1996 Census data. Higher scores indicate higher economic status. The IRSD score for the whole Australia is set at 1000 reference points.
