Gastroenteritis

Outbreaks of viral gastroenteritis are common especially in residential care settings and child care centres. Outbreaks are controlled by good hygine, isolation of ill patients and disinfection.

Notification

Gastroenteritis among two or more people of any age at a residential or educational institution, or at a health care facility is a notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by :

Doctors, Hospitals and laboratories must notify the local Public Health Unit (PHU).
