Poliomyelitis

Polio

Polio is a highly infectious viral disease that can cause paralysis and death. Immunisation has dramatically reduced the incidence of polio but it still exists in some developing countries.

Notification

Polio is a hospital and laboratory notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by phone to the local Public Health Unit (PHU) as soon as possible after diagnosis.
 
Select your local PHU  to obtain the correct notification form and notify your local PHU.
