Rubella

Rubella

Rubella is caused by infection with a virus. Infection is usually mild, but can cause serious damage to unborn babies. Immunisation is recommended for all children at 12 months and 4 years. All women planning pregnancy should check their immunity.

Notification

Rubella is a notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by phone as soon as possible after diagnosis.
 
Doctors, Hospitals and laboratories must notify the local Public Health Unit (PHU).
 
Select your local PHU  to obtain the correct notification form and notify your local PHU.
