Shigellosis

Shigellosis

Shigellosis is a bacterial disease caused by infection with Shigella bacteria. It causes diarrhoea and is easily spread among people. Good hygine is the key to prevention.

Notification

Shigellosis is a laboratory notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by phone to the local Public Health Unit (PHU) as soon as possible after diagnosis.
 
Select your local PHU  to obtain the correct notification form and notify your local PHU.
