Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers

Viral haemorrhagic fevers (VHF) are a group of highly infectious, and often fatal, diseases caused by several different viruses. Illness is characterised by the sudden onset of fever, malaise, headache, sore throat, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhoea, skin rash, and haemorrhage.

Notification

Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers is a hospital and laboratory notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by phone to the Public Health Unit (PHU) as soon as possible after diagnosis.
