Medical Locums: Frequently asked questions - Audit Guidelines
1. Does NSW Health have a list of preferred auditors?
NSW Health requires that the auditor be accredited with the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand.
2. If I don't get full compliance by the 17th August, will my existing bookings with NSW Health Services be honoured?
Yes. Area Health Services will be advised to use agencies on the Audit Register for NEW bookings after the 17th August 2009.
3. Will my agency remain on the NSW Health Register of Medical Locum Agencies after the 17th August?
Agencies that are fully compliant will be placed on the register.
Agencies that are provisionally compliant will have their audit report reviewed by the Department of Health. These agencies will be placed on the register if they have been endorsed as a provisionally compliant agency by the Department of Health.
4. What is a reasonable sample size?
The size of the sample is determined by the size of the agency and the number of medical officers 'on the books'. The actual sample size will be calculated by the auditors.
5. What action should your agency take if an audit has not been completed?
Arrange for a third party audit process as soon as possible. Once completed, provide NSW Department of Health with the auditor's report demonstrating the level of compliance. Where compliance has not been met, a plan and timeframe to take remedial action should be determined.
