Emergency Department diagnoses are entered by hospital clinical staff in the course of their work. Therefore variation in coding practice can occur. Diagnoses available to be selected can also vary between hospitals and Area Health Services. These counts should therefore be considered indicative only. Only hospitals recording reasonably complete diagnosis information were included.
