How do I find out if was exposed to DES?

There may be no obvious signs of DES exposure and there is no test to prove exposure. If you were born between 1938-1980s, ask your mother (or other relatives who might know her pregnancy history) if she took any hormone medications during her pregnancy, or if she had any problems - bleeding, miscarriage, premature birth, or diabetes. Most people are unable to obtain proof of their DES exposure, but if you suspect you are DES exposed it is still important to have an initial DES examination to assess your possible DES exposure. If you were pregnant during 1938-1980s, try to get your medical records if you are unsure about whether you took DES.
