Tall girls
DES was also used to inhibit growth in young girls (already unusually tall)
from the 1950s to the mid 1970s. Ethinylestradiol was also used and became
the hormone of choice from the mid 1970s. Women who received this treatment
are now concerned about its effects. Australian researchers are currently studying
the long-term health and psychosocial effects of this treatment to reduce height.
So far, these researchers have found girls under this treatment are at greater risk of infertility.
