Employer Sponsored Vacation Care Programs
at Hospitals
NSW Health has a commitment to the establishment
and operation of employer sponsored Vacation Care Programs
in the public health sector. The commitment was initially
in response to the shortage of nursing personnel in public
hospitals. The current Nursing Recruitment Strategy provided
the major impetus and funding for the development of the
increasing number of Vacation Care Programs in the Health
system. The previous Minister, the Hon. Craig Knowles, initiated
the new program of development to provide increased access
to children's services places for staff.
The employer
sponsored Vacation Care Programs are managed by the
respective Area Health Services. Priority of access for
placements in these Programs is for Area Health Service
staff, in line with the Child Care Program Manual (1996). |
