In January 2003 an employer sponsored vacation
care service was established for the employees of the Wentworth
Area Health Service. This Service provides a recreational program
and caters for 20 children between 5 and 12 years of age, during
school holiday periods.

LOCATION: Nepean
Vacation Care Service is located only 5 minutes drive, or easy
walk from Nepean Hospital and is easily accessible by public transport.

HOURS OF OPENING: The Service is open from 6.30am-6.00pm, Monday – Friday
during school holidays, excluding public holidays.

HOW
TO BOOK: If
you have used our service in the past, you will be on our mailing
list. "A booking form will be sent six weeks prior to holidays
either e-mailed internally or sent by mail to those who don't have
access to e-mail."
New families will be sent the appropriate forms upon request
from Somerset Cottage Child Care Centre Ph:
4734 2104/4734 2103 or email: Vacationcare@wahs.nsw.gov.au
Booking forms can then be filled out and sent back to the Child
Care Center by fax on 4734 3493 or email: Vacationcare@wahs.nsw.gov.au,
or simply phoned in to reception at Somerset Cottage Child Care
Centre Ph: 4734 2104/4734 2103.
New families will also need to complete an enrollment form for
their children, usually at time of booking. These forms are also
available from Somerset Cottage Child Care Centre, by email, fax
or in person.

FEES: Daily
fee per child applies. A deposit is required to secure a booking
(50% of the total fees due) with the remaining balance payable
by the child’s first
day at vacation care. Parents are able to claim Child Care Benefit
Rebate.
Methods of Payment - Payments can be made
through the cashier at Nepean Hospital. Payments can be made with
cash, cheque (made out to the Nepean Vacation Care Service), or
by credit card. |

WHAT
TO BRING: Hat, Sunscreen, lunch, snacks and drinks
|
|
PROGRAM: The
programs are designed and evaluated with reference to the ‘school
aged’ child’s social, physical, recreational, intellectual,
and creative interests. The program is flexible allowing children’s
choice and suggestions. It includes cooking, craft, music, sport,
workshops, excursions, games and competitions. The emphasis is
on FUN!

STAFFING: In
accordance with the National Standards for Out of School Hours
Care, Nepean Vacation Care has a minimum of two staff at any one
time with at least one staff member being qualified.
The staffing ratios are as follows:
1 staff member: 15 children
1 staff member :8 children on excursions
1 staff member :5 children when swimming
