Other Issues
Future issues to be considered by the Network include:
- Liver issues including viral hepatitis: NSW Health is reviewing NSW Hepatitis C treatment and care services with the aim of identifying recommendations to address future demand for services. Written submissions were invited by the end of April 2007 and key stakeholders were interviewed. A Report is anticipated in 2008. Liver cancer accounted for 2% of cancer deaths in NSW in 2004. Between 1995 and 2004 incidence rates for liver cancer rose by 59% in men and 116% for women. Primary liver cancer is most common among people who have been infected with Hepatitis B or C.
- The management of total parenteral nutrition and enteral nutrition in NSW public hospitals.
- Equity of access to high cost drugs / technologies
