Orthopaedic Network
The Orthopaedic Network was established in 2007 and a formal Executive has yet to be elected.
In 2008, the Network is reviewing the current models of care that are available for elective total hip and total knee replacement and assessing the levels of evidence for current practice.
Emerging Issues
- Inequity of access to orthopaedic procedures for patients in NSW.
- Projected increase in demand for orthopaedic surgery due to ageing population.
- Geographic mal-distribution of orthopaedic surgeons and associated facilities.
- Staff shortages in allied health, nursing, rehabilitation and geriatric services.
