Referral Directory

To select the right adult service, there are three guiding principles listed below:

1) For continuity of care, patients are advised to return to the spinal unit and associated services where they were treated after their initial spinal cord injury.

2) For patients not associated with either spinal unit, referrals are based on residential address.

North:
Royal North Shore Hospital /Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney accepts new referrals from the northern part of metropolitan Sydney and northern NSW.
This area is within the boundaries of the following Area Health Services - Northern Sydney Central Coast, Greater Western, Hunter New England and North Coast.

South:
Prince of Wales Hospital accepts new referrals from the southern part of metropolitan Sydney and southern NSW.
This area is within the boundaries of the following Area Health Services, Sydney South West, South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra, Greater Southern, and the Australian Capital Territory.

3) Patients may choose to change spinal services, however it is strongly advised that this be done in consultation with the spinal service to which the client has established links. Generally this is the spinal service that provided services to the client after their acute injury.
