Module 6 - Seating Made Easy: Solving a Puzzle

Aim - "piecing it all together" | Rationale | Outcomes

Aim - "piecing it all together"

This module provides a framework for clinicians to apply problem-solving skills when developing goals for seating and mobility intervention.

Rationale

Seating investigation is a complex and detailed process, and clinicians must consider a vast array of information during the assessment phase. An integrated framework of clinical and technical knowledge is required to identify seating issues and to provide a systematic approach to problem solving.

Outcomes

At the end of this module, you will be able to:
  • List the three goals of seating intervention
  • List two key principles in goal-setting for seating and mobility interventions
  • Describe the strategies in identifying issues arising from the seating investigation
  • Consider the benefits of a team approach in goal-setting
  • Understand the importance of a trial set-up and its process
  • Transfer this problem-solving framework to Modules 7-10
