Statistics

THE SSCIS database (SCID) collects incident cases, for both traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injuries, in NSW who are admitted to the specialist spinal units which forms part of the national data set, known as the National Injury Surveillance Unit (NISU). The NISU site has an extensive collection of publish papers about traumatic spinal cord injuries.

The SSCIS also collects data for the acute, initial rehabilitation and outreach episodes and for patients readmitted to the spinal cord injury units.

The Australian Spinal Cord Injury Register (ASCIR) 2002-3 report is a collaborative activity of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, National Injury Surveillance Unit and the specialist spinal units of Australia.

The SSCIS participates in collaborative research.

Please see the following links for current research activities that SSCIS clinicians are involved with.
