The Greater Metropolitan Clinical Taskforce

GMCT Specialty Service Networks

Radiology Network

Co-Chairs: Richard Waugh and Margaret Allen

In August 2003, the Greater Metropolitan Radiology Services Network (GMRSN) was formed to examine issues affecting radiology services in the greater metropolitan public hospitals. This has since been expanded to encompass rural regions. Members include clinical heads of radiology departments, other radiologists, CEO of the NSW Branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), medical imaging nurses and radiographers.

There has been an exponential growth in the scope of procedures performed in medical imaging in the past few years to include minimally invasive surgery and techniques that are at the cutting edge of technology. Complexity of procedures and acuity of patients has also increased.

Along with its subcommittees, Nursing Managers, and Chief Radiographers, the Radiology Committee has prioritised projects under:

  • Workforce and Training
  • Networking and Communication
  • Quality and Safety
