Stroke Services - About Us

The GMCT NSW Stroke Services Network was established in 2002 as an initiative of the Greater Metropolitan Transition Taskforce (GMCT) .

The network is responsible for developing a coordinated approach to stroke care across NSW. To improve patient outcomes:

  • Expertise is being pooled
  • Access to that expertise is being optimised
  • There have been measurable and measured improvements in use of available resources
  • Evidence is being gathered o support recommendations for supply of diverse, appropriate resources

An active program is underway to establish specialised models of care suitable for rural areas through the NSW Institute of Rural Clinical Services and Teaching.
