Stroke Services NSW - NSW Acute Stroke Units

Through GMTT/GMCT, more than $2 million in capital funding and $10 million in additional recurrent funding was provided to support the establishment or enhancement of Acute Stroke Units across the Sydney greater metropolitan area. Twenty-one Acute Stroke Units were supported initially in 2002-2003.

Additional greater metropolitan acute stroke units are being developed and several rural models of stroke service delivery are currently being trialled, funded through NSW Health and the NSW Institute of Rural Clinical Services and Teaching and the Australasian Stroke Unit Network (ASUN).
