Dubbo Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program

The Dubbo Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program is an outreach case management service. The Program is situated at the rehabilitation hospital in Dubbo, with clients having access to generic rehabilitation services. The Dubbo Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program (BIRP) provides assistance to adults of working age with a brain injury, and their families. A coordination and consultancy service for children with a brain injury is also provided.

Services offerred by the Dubbo Brain Injury Rehabiiltation Program

The service consists predominately provides outreach case management. A case manager will be appointed to conduct an initial assessment to identify goals, support and educational needs.

Discipline specific therapy is not available through the BIRP. However, generic services can be brokered at the rehabilitation unit or from community agencies where available.

According to the needs of individuals, families and carers, staff can provide;

  • Initial assessment to identify rehabilitation goals.
  • Coordination and referral to other community Services.
  • Individual support and counseling
  • Advocacy
  • Information and education for carers
  • Information regarding respite services

In addition to this, case managers will liaise with insurance companies, solicitors, doctors, and other agencies as required

Referrals

Referrals can be made by individuals, families, carers, medical practitioners or other service providers. Early referral of potential clients is recommended
