Current Programs of Work

Clinical Systems | Clinical Support System | Corporate Systems | Business Information Systems

Clinical Systems

  • Electronic Medical Record (eMR)
    a key enabler for clinical reform through Clinical Services Redesign and improved quality and safety. This will provide clinicians with systems for: Results reporting, Order management, Discharge Referral, Emergency Department, Operating Theatres and Scheduling. It will also support clinical documentation becoming electronic rather than paper. State-wide implementation is currently underway.
  • Patient Administration System
    effective and efficient patient management, administration and scheduling and as the foundation for core clinical systems. State-wide implementation is now complete.

Clinical Support System

  • Medical Imaging
    also known as Picture Archival Communication System/Radiology Information System. It is a single integrated digital imaging and radiology information system that increases radiologist productivity and gives electronic access to images across the State. The program will include the provision of image server and storage facilities. State-wide implementation is currently underway.

Corporate Systems

  • Corporate Systems Stage 1
    hardware, licensing, upgrading of existing finance systems and the design and implementation of a new integrated Human Resource Information System (HRIS). This program is in planning phase.
  • Patient Billing
    a system that meets the business and information needs of Area Health Services, NSW Health and external parties in a reliable and flexible manner. Bills will include all relevant credits for claims from external organisations (Medicare Australia, health funds, etc). This program is in planning phase.

Business Information Systems

  • Business Information (BI)
    revitalises NSW Health's information infrastructure and introduces new performance management and decision support tools. It aims to deliver near real-time information to hospitals on performance and activity / flow and next day information to the remainder of the system. State-wide implementation is currently underway.
