Opportunities for permanent and fixed term employment as Career Medical Officers
All Area Health Services have opportunities for permanent and fixed term (full-time or part-time) career medical officers (CMO). Roles will vary from hospital to hospital, but will include emergency medicine, intensive care medicine, medical-officer-in-charge and psychiatry.
Rosters will vary depending on specialty and hospital, however, all CMOs are entitled to the benefits of permanent employment on the CMOs award which includes penalty rates, overtime, annual leave including extra leave for public holidays worked and sick leave. The CMOs award provides for Continuing Medical Education (after 12 months) which is 7 days paid leave per annum (for full-timers, pro-rata for part-timers) and some expenses. All AHS employees have access to salary package entitlements.
If you are interested in becoming a Career Medical Officer, are registered to practice in NSW and have completed a minimum of two years full time postgraduate experience, call an Area Health Service representative to discuss your specific experience and interests. Additional postgraduate experience may be required depending on the requirements of the position/s available.
