Mpox is a viral infection caused by the monkeypox virus. It’s mainly spread by direct skin-to-skin contact with someone who has mpox.

People at highest risk of mpox in NSW are men who have sex with men, particularly those having sex overseas or with overseas travellers.

Mpox vaccination

The JYNNEOS vaccine to protect against mpox is free in NSW for eligible groups of people.

Eligible people can make an appointment to be vaccinated against mpox by calling a clinic directly.
