14 May 2009 Architect appointed for Bega Hospital plan
Sydney-based specialist architectural company, Health Projects International (HPI), has been appointed to design the proposed new $100 million Bega Hospital. NSW Minister for Health, John Della Bosca, said HPI specialises in the planning, design and commissioning of hospitals and other health care facilities. “It will be responsible for the development of the design for the new 136-bed facility which is to be built on an undeveloped site,” the Minister said. “HPI has worked on public and private hospitals, day procedure clinics, medical centres and other health care facilities.” Some of their recent projects include: Mr Della Bosca said Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) Structural and Building Services Engineers will be the engineers for the project, including coordination of the Environmental Sustainable Design strategy. “SKM is currently providing engineering services on hospital projects valued at more than $6 billion. “Whilst there isn’t a date set for the commencement of construction, we want to be in a position to deliver this facility as soon as funds are available,” the Minister added.
