Tamworth Hospital project director tender

The next stage in the planning for the proposed redevelopment of Tamworth Hospital is underway.

NSW Minister for Health, John Della Bosca, has today revealed Coffey Projects (Australia) Pty Ltd is the project’s Planning Director.

“Coffey Projects’ appointment shows the NSW Government remains committed to the construction of a new hospital for the people of the Tamworth region,” the Minister said.

“It is a significant development which will lead to a Master Development Control Plan for the proposed new health facility.

“The development of the Master Development Control Plan, assessment of project options and the development of a business case are all part of the process of developing a major new health facility.”

The company was Project Director Planning on the following public hospital projects undertaken by NSW Health in recent years:

• Gosford Hospital Acute Mental Health Inpatient facility (2006-08);
• Manning Base Emergency Department; and
• Mount Druitt Pathways Home.

Mr Della Bosca said Coffey Projects begins its planning tasks this week with a business case to be completed by the end of March 2010.

“NSW Health has provided formal endorsement of the Clinical Services Plan developed by Hunter New England Area Health Service,” the Minister said.

“The Project Director Planning, Health Infrastructure and the Hunter New England Area Health Service will now work together with Tamworth clinical staff to define a plan for the future delivery of health services in the Tamworth region,” he added.
