31 December 2010 South Eastern Sydney LHN Chief Executive Announced
NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Health Carmel Tebbutt has today announced the appointment of Terry Clout as the Chief Executive of the new South Eastern Sydney Local Health Network. Terry Clout brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, including from his current role as Chief Executive of South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service. “Terry’s experience over more than two decades includes senior leadership positions in public health, and he will be a valuable asset in our continuing work to reform the NSW health system,” Ms Tebbutt said. “I look forward to continuing to work with him.” Mr Clout said: “I am pleased to be appointed the inaugural Chief Executive of the South Eastern Local Health Network. It is an exciting time to be involved in leading the delivery of local health services for the community which will be enhanced under the national health reforms.” The Chief Executives will be accountable for their performance to their Governing Councils. The appointment announced today has been recommended by the South Eastern Sydney Governing Council. South Eastern Sydney Governing Council Chair Morris Iemma said: “I welcome the appointment of Terry Clout. His extensive experience in the public health system is an asset for the people of South Eastern Sydney and will help deliver important local health care and services under the national health reform agreement.” NSW announced the majority of Chief Executive positions for the Local Health Networks last week, demonstrating that the state is leading the nation in rolling out the historic Commonwealth-State health reforms. An executive search firm will be engaged to recruit for two positions (Murrumbidgee and Western NSW) not filled in the recent recruitment process. Arrangements for acting Chief Executives will be put in place until those positions are filled. The announcement of Chief Executives follows the appointment of the Chairs and the membership of the Governing Councils for the Local Health Networks. Since the historic COAG agreement in April, NSW has worked hard to establish the new structure. Local Health Networks will commence on 1 January 2011, and transition to full operation over the next six months. List of Chief Executives
