​The first baby to be born in a NSW public hospital for 2012 was delivered this morning in Sydney.

Gretchen and Phil Colver welcomed a baby boy, weighing 3.320 grams at 12.12am (AEDT) at Manly District Hospital.

Mother and baby are doing well.

On a typical day in the NSW public health system around 200 babies are born throughout the state.

The first day of the year in 2011 saw 232 babies born. This compares to 230 in 2010 and 182 babies in 2009.
