NSW Health provides a centralised web-based annual recruitment scheme for graduate registered nurses and midwives to apply for employment in NSW public hospitals and one not-for-profit private hospital.
2017 Transition to Professional Practice recruitment (TPP)
Applications for new graduate recruitment are now closed.
Following submission of your application, a record of your complete application will appear on the screen which includes your unique TPP ID number. Save and/or print this as a record of your application. You will also receive an email acknowledging receipt of your applcation submission. Your TPP ID number will be used for identification purposes through the recruitment campaign.

To be eligible to apply you must:
- intend to complete your initial nursing or midwifery degree (final results received) that leads to initial registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife, between 1 June 2016 and 31 May 2017.
- be eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia prior to the ageed date for the commencement of employment.
- be an Australian citizen, or hold a visa that allows ongoing full-time employment in Australia. Note: Employer sponsorship is not available from NSW Health for this recruitment process. Priority Selection will be given to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and New Zealand citizens. See page 19 of the Handbook for further information.

Applicants will be required to bring a number of documents to interview in support of their online application. These include:
Students who elect to undertake an Honours program and do not apply through the TPP in their final year of study, or apply and withdraw before interview, are eligible to apply the following year.
Students who apply and attend an interview in their final year of study (prior to Honours) are ineligible to apply for the Transition to Professional Practice recruitment the following year.
Although applicants apply through a centralised online application process, the recruitment, selection and employment of graduates is undertaken by hospitals and Local Health Districts/Networks. Information pertaining to participating health facilities, specialty programs, intake dates, interview location and information, and/or general employment enquiries can be found on Local Health District/Network/hospital websites or by contacting the relevant TPP Coordinator. Other graduate opportunities also exist in the Private, Aged Care and Disability Care Sectors. Recruitment for these sectors are usually advertised through employment search websites or health facilities’ websites.
