NSW Health provides a centralised web-based annual recruitment scheme for graduate registered nurses and midwives to apply for employment in NSW public hospitals and one not-for-profit private hospital.

2017 Transition to Professional Practice recruitment (TPP)

Applicants who complete their initial nursing or midwifery degree between 1 June 2016 and 31 May 2017 are eligible to apply for the 2017 Transition to Professional Practice recruitment.  Applicants who complete their degrees outside of this timeframe are not eligible.

Eligible Applicants' Bank

Applicants who have been placed on the Eligible Applicants' Bank (EAB) for the 2017 Transition to Professional Practice (TPP)  may be contacted by employers between 12 October 2016 and 31 May 2017 to fill remaining positions. Please refer to pages 20-21 of the 2017 TPP Handbook for detailed information regarding the EAB.

Applicants who have not received a position offer are encouraged to seek feedback on their recruitment performance by contacting the relevant staff member identifed in your recruitment outcome letter.  

H​​onours​ program

​Eligibility

Students who elect to undertake an Honours program and do not apply through the TPP in their final year of study, or apply and withdraw before interview, are eligible to apply the following year.

Ineligibility

Students who apply and attend an interview in their final year of study (prior to Honours) are ineligible to apply for the Transition to Professional Practice recruitment the following year.

Employers

Although applicants apply through a centralised online application process, the recruitment, selection and employment of graduates is undertaken by hospitals and Local Health Districts/Networks. Information pertaining to participating health facilities, specialty programs, intake dates, interview location and information, and/or general employment enquiries can be found on Local Health District/Network/hospital websites or by contacting the relevant TPP Coordinator. Other graduate opportunities also exist in the Private, Aged Care and Disability Care Sectors. Recruitment for these sectors are usually advertised through employment search websites or health facilities’ websites.​​​​​
