Area Health Services in NSW are currently recruiting for nursing and midwifery positions. Full time and part time work is available in metropolitan and rural locations in midwifery and nursing clinical areas such as generalist (rural locations), intensive care, emergency, operating suite and mental health.

Area Health Services in New South Wales

The NSW Department of Health has contracts with the following three organisations for the recruitment of nurses and midwives from overseas to work in NSW public hospitals:-

Working in NSW

Information about visiting and living in NSW is available from the NSW Government website.

To be eligible for employment as a nurse or midwife in NSW you must be registered with the Nurses and Midwives Board (NMB) NSW. The NMB will assess overseas nursing and midwifery qualifications for eligibility for registration in NSW.

Hospitals will require evidence of current registration as a nurse or midwife in NSW before making a job offer.

Overseas nurses and midwives (with the exception of those holding New Zealand passports) must also hold a visa that permits work. The NSW Department of Health may be able to assist with sponsorship for employment in a NSW public hospital.
