Re-Entry to Nursing - Continuation of Scholarships

Re-entry Scholarships are a NSW Government initiative to help previously enrolled or registered nurses re-enter the NSW Public Health system.

A further 25 scholarships are available to individuals who have been away from nursing for 5-10 years and therefore do not meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s Recency of Practice Standard.

The scholarship provides $6,000 to assist with the cost of the NSW College of Nursing’s Assessment of Competence Program. The scholarships are linked to full-time or part-time employment in the NSW public health system following completion of the Program and regaining of registration.

The NSW College of Nursing’s Assessment of Competence Program runs for eight weeks. Scholarship recipients need to attend the College at Burwood for four week to undertake their theoretical update and have their clinical skills assessed in a simulated environment. The remaining four weeks is the clinical component which can be undertaken at health facilities across NSW – in rural, regional or metropolitan locations.  This is subject to the College working with Local Health Districts to organise a suitable placement.

For further information please phone Ms Erin O’Brien in Nursing and Midwifery Office on (02) 9424 5941.
