​NSW State Oral Health Executive (SOHE)

Terms of Reference

  • Provide a forum for discussion of strategic, operational and clinical issues in oral health to formulate recommendations to the NSW Ministry of Health and other relevant key stake holders.
  • To promote the overall goals of the Oral Health 2020: A Strategic Framework for Dental Health in NSW.
  • To disseminate information and facilitate discussion on public health and oral health issues.
  • To promote 2-way discussion from oral health managers on clinical and operational matters and how they impact upon the oral health strategic and business planning processes.
  • To provide future management and clinical development of IM&T in public oral health.
  • To support the development and implementation of NSW Ministry of Health policy directives/guidelines/ information bulletins that support best practice models and a population health approach to oral health.
  • To develop effective partnerships between individual LHDs, COHS, and the NSW MoH.
  • To facilitate opportunities to support improved data collection, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on oral health and benchmark performance standards.
  • To facilitate opportunities to integrate oral health into the general health agenda and promote the development of Centres of Excellence for teaching and research.

Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies Advisory Committee

The purpose of this Committee is to provide strategic policy advice to the Minister of Health and the Secretary, Ministry of Health, with regards to the administration of the Fluoridation Public Water Supplies Act 1957, Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies Regulation 2002 and Code of Practice for the Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies.

Terms of Reference

  •  The Committee to actively promote water fluoridation as the most cost effective and equitable way of preventing dental caries.
  • The Committee to support NSW Health commitment to improving the oral health of all New South Wales' population and to continue to strongly support water fluoridation as an important public health policy.
  • To develop more effective partnerships between individual Councils, Water Supply Authorities, Local Health Districts and the NSW Ministry of Health regarding fluoridation issues.
  • To facilitate opportunities through a revised capital works program to encourage Water Supply Authorities to add fluorine to public water supplies.
  • Advocate for fluoridation within the health system and the community generally.

NSW Oral Health Promotion Network

Purpose: The NSW Oral Health Promotion Network will ensure oral health promotion efforts in NSW are collaborative, well coordinated, based on best evidence-based practice, and continuously delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
