Summary
This policy replaces Information Bulletin 93/31. Policy and risk management strategies to reduce the risk of error when oral methotrexate is prescribed, dispensed and administered for the treatment of inpatients or outpatients. Oral methotrexate is considered a high alert medicine due to the potential for error with its once a week dosage regimen, which is unusual compared to the daily dosing of most other medicines.
