Summary
The Policy Directive outlines the Commonwealth and NSW Department of Health requirements for Area Health Services and hospitals involved with the Highly Specialised Drugs Program and the Complex Authority Required Highly Specialised Drugs Program. The policy has been updated to include changes to requirements for accredited medical practitioners prescribing hepatitis C drugs for maintenance therapy which came into effect 1 March 2008.
