Programs—Prevention Program

The Prevention Program develops, maintains and supports the implementation of policy frameworks for programs and services that promote mental health and prevent the development of mental health problems and disorders.

Early intervention initiatives and effective treatment are also included. There is a strong focus on improving the mental health of children, young people and their families.

In NSW, a focus on promotion, prevention and early intervention in mental health is effected through a range of community-based strategies and programs. These are developed in collaboration with the community, primary care, schools and other sectors, and are supported by specialist child and adolescent mental health expertise and services.
