The Government Action Plan for Health (the GAP) was launched in March 2000. It is an ongoing plan that aims to create an environment of greater certainty and stability for the NSW health system. It is also promoting best practice by building on the strengths already present in the system. The GAP's ultimate aim is to provide the people of NSW with a health service that is both consistent and effective.
The GAP is coordinated by the Action Plan Coordination
Unit.
The implementation structure includes:
- Implementation Coordination Groups
- the Clinical Council to oversee and lead the overall implementation process
- community and/or consumer representation in every Implementation Coordination Group
- the involvement of over 500 clinicians, managers and consumers in leadership positions to foster alliances across traditional boundaries.
