Transfer of Diagnosis and Assessment services From the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care to NSW Health

DADC and NSW Health DGsNSW Health is pleased to announce an agreement with the Department of Ageing,
Disability and Home Care (DADHC) to transfer Diagnosis and Assessment Services from DADHC to NSW Health.

The transfer will be effective from 1 July 2005.

Diagnosis and Assessment Services (D&A) are multidisciplinary teams consisting of medical practitioners, psychologists, social workers and nurses who provide assessment services for children with a suspected developmental delay. Some services also provide assessment for adults.

D&A services work closely with the person's family and /or carer and make referrals to a range of service providers as appropriate.

The five Diagnosis and Assessment Services being transferred are located in Leichhardt, Parramatta, Kogarah, Randwick (Tumbatin) and Wollongong.

These services will now be managed by the Children's Hospital at Westmead, and the South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service.

There will be no disruption or diminution to the current level of service delivery.
