How to enable Javascript in your web browser
|
The Web version of the The Health of the people of New South Wales - Report of the Chief Health Officer provides some basic navigation aids which work in all browsers -
each page has two links to an appropriate point on the Report's table of contents page (one link at the top right of each page, the other
in the centre of the foot of each page).
The report can be navigated by using these links to choose another page.
However, some more sophisticated navigation aids are available if your Web browser supports JavaScript and if this facility is enabled.
The most popular Web browser, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Browser both support
JavaScript, although you need to be using Version 4.0 or later of Internet Explorer or Version 3.0 or later of the Netscape browser for the
the JavaScript features of the Report of the NSW Health Surveys to work correctly. The
JavaScript features of the Report should also work with other popular browsers such as the Mozilla Firefox browser or the Opera browser. A few browsers, such as the text-only Lynx browser or the Amaya browser, do not support JavaScript at all.
If you do use a browser which supports JavaScript, then you need to ensure that the JavaScript capabilities of these browsers are enabled. You also need to enable cookies in order to be able to see larger, higher-resolution versions of the graphs on each page of the Report.
Please note that by default both the Netscape and Microsoft browsers have both JavaScript and cookies enabled, so you only need to take the following steps if you (or someone else) has turned these features off.
Netscape and Mozilla browser
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences and then click on the Advanced item in the list presented. Make sure that
the Enable JavaScript [for Navigator] option is selected (that is, the small box to the left of it has a tick or cross in it). Also make sure that
the Enable Stylesheets option and the Accept all cookies or the Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server
options are also selected. In later versions of Netscape (6.0 or later) and in Mozilla, these options are found under the Privacy and Security item in Preferences. Then click OK and reload the Web page. Two pull-down ("combo-box") selection lists should now appear
at the top and bottom of each page of the Report, together with Next Page and Previous Page buttons.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options and then click on the Security tab. You then need to edit (or
check) the security settings for either the Internet zone or the Local intranet zone depending on from where you are
accessing the Report. Click on the Custom Level button and scroll down through the list of options and make sure that
cookies are enabled (or enabled with prompting) and that active scripting is also enabled. Click OK and then
refresh the page. You should see two pull-down ("combo-box") selection lists at the top and bottom of each page of the Report.
