Report of the Chief Health Officer 2004

Summary

This report is the fifth in a series that began in 1996. It:

  • provides an overview of the health of the people of NSW
  • presents trends in key health indicators
  • demonstrates health inequalities
  • highlights emerging health priorities and new health data sources.

The report is intended for a wide variety of users, including public health practitioners, planners, policy analysts, researchers, students and health consumers.

It is an essential source of reference within NSW Health for those needing quick access to health data to inform planning or answer media or public inquiries.

Versions

Three versions of the report are available:


  1. HTML on the web
    The web version is updated regularly so that it reflects the most recently available data. Note that What's new? provides downloadable versions of the charts and data tables, enabling re-use of the information contained in the report. You are encouraged to use these downloadable files in other documents and presentations, provided that you do not change the data and that you acknowledge the source.

  2. A printed and bound hardcopy...
    ... will be published in December 2004 and will be available from the Better Health Centre. Reference copies are available in all major public, university and public hospital libraries in NSW.

  3. The PDF version...
    ... is an exact electronic copy of the hardcopy version and will be available in December 2004. Note that it is not updated when new data becomes available.

Errata for the hardcopy version are listed in the web version. Please report any errors in the printed copy which are not already listed, using the contact information listed here.
