Centre for Drug and Alcohol - Current Projects

The Families and Carers Training (FACT) Project

The Families and Carers Training (FACT) Project was established under the National Illicit Drugs Strategy (NIDS) and aims to equip families and carers of drug users with simple information and education on drug and alcohol issues, treatment options and skills in self care. This involves the development of resources that will be delivered to families and carers through generalist frontline workers (that is non-drug and alcohol specialists) across NSW.

Preliminary research has been undertaken to inform the development of these resources. This includes a survey of existing programs and services for families and carers in NSW and some focus testing of the needs of families and carers (click on the link below to access the findings of this research).

The project has now moved into the development and implementation stage. These findings will be drawn upon to inform the design and development of information and education resources.
