NSW Health supports health promotion research and evaluation which enhances evidence-based health promotion practice.

Building a better evidence base for health promotion practice requires a systematic approach involving:

• Supporting practice-based health promotion research
• Encouraging and supporting evaluation of all health promotion work at state and local levels
• Providing support for the development of skills required for conducting research and evaluation
• Encouraging the communication of research and evaluation findings
• Developing an organisational infrastructure that enables learning from research and evaluation to feed back into planning and decision making.
