The local government sector plays an essential role in the development, enhancement and delivery of population health initiatives across New South Wales. Local councils are closely connected to their local communities and understand what is required to improve the health and well-being of people in their region, and how this may be done.

Recognising this invaluable expertise, NSW Health has formed partnerships with various local government entities to join up solutions between the health and local government sectors. These partnerships provide an opportunity to capitalise on unique perspectives that enable comprehensive examination of population health issues at a local level.
