Aboriginal Sexual Health

Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services

The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council of NSW (AH&MRC) is the recognized peak body and voice of Aboriginal communities on Aboriginal health matters in NSW. Its more than 60 member organisations, are comprised of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS), also known as Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS); Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Related Services (ACCHRS) and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Committees (ACCHC).

 

Aboriginal STI, HIV and Hepatitis C Workers

 

Aboriginal STI, HIV and Hepatitis C workers provide a liaison role between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and health services around STI, HIV and Hepatitis C related issues. Workers are based in both the public and community controlled health sectors within all areas of NSW. If there is not a worker listed in your area, phone the worker nearest to where you live, as they may visit your area or they may be able to provide you with useful contacts for your local area.

  • Runs social, support and education groups for gays and lesbians.

  • Telephone counselling service.

  • Provides a range of national and international resources related to HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support.

Young people

There are 15 Youth Health Services in NSW. Each is unique and provides services and programs that have been developed to address the needs in the locations they are situated in.
