Future Directions for Dementia Care and Support in NSW 2001-2006

Summary

Informs the public of the issue of dementia, promoting good primary care and providing opportunities for people with dementia to plan for their future and to participate fully in society. It also works towards providing recognition and support for carers, timely and equitable access to appropriate community support, targeted training for staff, access to expertise and resources for the prevention and management of behavioural complications, responsive medical treatment that supports recovery and rehabilitation, timely access to high level care, an integrated local planning approach and support for families in decision making in the final stages of dementia.
