NSW Health Routine for Domestic Violence Program Snapshot Report: November 2003

Summary

Routine screening for domestic violence is one of the key elements of the NSW Health Policy and Procedures for identifying and Responding to Domestic Violence. Following a successful pilot in 2000, Area Health Services began introducing domestic violence routine screening in targeted program areas.

Most Area Health Services are on target for full implementation by the end of December 2004. In November 2003, a one-month snapshot to determine the level and outcomes of screening was conducted by services that had already commenced screening in 13 Area Health Services. The report provides valuable feedback to Area Health Services for service development and will also inform Department's programs.
