Mental health information for general practitioners regarding the recent tsunami disaster

Summary

The recent Tsunami in Asia has been a devastating social crisis and it will have far-reaching effects. Some people will present to their general practitioners for support or care. This brochure has been prepared to assist general practitioners in the care of these people.

The brochure covers areas such as the impact of the events, coping strategies, how to support people who are acutely distressed, particular issues relating to the tsunami, and the effect of trauma in children and adolescents. It also details a range of other support services that may be helpful to the patient and general practitioner.

Another brochure has been prepared for members of the public called "Coping with Tsunamis."
