NSW Schools Physical Activity and Nutrition Survey (SPANS) 2004 Summary Report
SummaryAlmost 5500 students aged 5 to 16 years were surveyed in 2004 as part of the NSW Schools Physical Activity and Nutrition Survey (SPANS). This is the summary report (mainly for policy makers and professionals who work in the field), which provides a snapshot of the methods of the study and key results of the survey including: current data and trends on the prevalence of overweight and obesity, levels of physical activity, modes of travel to and from school, fundamental movement skills, sedentary behaviours, fitness levels, food habits and eating patterns, and markers for chronic disease.
